Convert a ANNA statement to checked Excel

ANNA's calling card is tax. On top of a business account, it estimates what you'll owe as you go, sets money aside for it, and can even help file VAT and Corporation Tax — a lot for a one-person business to hand off. But when it's time to actually file, or when an accountant takes over, the raw account still has to leave the app as rows in a spreadsheet, because a PDF can't be totalled, filtered or reconciled.

Where the tax help meets your figures

Because ANNA is doing tax estimates in the background, its statement carries the traffic that goes with that — money sliding into a tax pot, VAT collected on sales sitting apart from your income, the odd adjustment. Handy in the app, but at filing time you want to *see* it: how much you actually earned, how much you set aside, and whether the two line up. Converted to a spreadsheet, you can total your real income, pull out the tax set-asides, and check ANNA's estimate against the numbers rather than taking it on trust — which is exactly what an accountant will do before signing anything off.

What's on an ANNA statement

An ANNA statement lists business activity with a date, the payee, the amount and a running balance. A couple of ANNA features shape it:

• The tax pot. ANNA estimates what you'll owe and can set money aside for it, so you'll see transfers to and from a tax pot alongside your trading. Those stay on their own rows so money reserved for HMRC isn't counted as spending.
• Invoice payments. Payments that settle an ANNA invoice carry a reference, kept with the transaction so you can match income to the invoice it paid.

A longer description can wrap onto a second line, and a plain PDF export reads that overflow as its own row. The converter joins it back so each payment is one clean transaction.

Where to find your ANNA statement

1. Open the ANNA app, go to the account, and open Statements.
2. Choose the month or a date range and export the PDF. ANNA can also produce a CSV.
3. Save the file, then upload it here.

Because ANNA generates the PDF itself, the text is clean and the conversion is exact. If you've only been sent a scan or a screenshot, the converter reads it with OCR.

Getting it into your books

• Excel or Google Sheets — one row per transaction with real numbers, ready to total and filter.
• QuickBooks, Xero or FreeAgent — an import-ready file so the lines land as bank entries to reconcile.
• Zoho and others — the same clean data in each one's format.

Every figure is reconciled before download: opening balance, plus money in, minus money out, has to equal the closing balance. For a small business handing a year to an accountant, that check means the numbers add up rather than nearly adding up.

Common snags with ANNA statements

• Tax-pot transfers. Money set aside for tax stays on its own row, separate from your spending.
• Invoice references kept. Payments settling an ANNA invoice keep their reference so income matches the invoice.
• CSV vs PDF. ANNA can give you a CSV, but if all you have is the PDF, the converter turns it into the same clean rows.
