Upload a Novo statement PDF and every transaction comes back as clean rows — date, description, amount and running balance — checked so the month reconciles. Export to Excel, CSV, or a QBO/OFX file for QuickBooks.

Novo is built for the smallest end of business — freelancers, solo founders, online sellers — and those are exactly the people who need clean numbers at tax time but don't have a finance team to produce them. A Novo statement is where the year's income and expenses live, and it has to become rows before any of that can be totalled.

What's on a Novo statement

A Novo statement lists business activity with these fields:

Column

What's in it

Date

The posting date

Description

The counterparty, payout source or card merchant

Amount

The transaction value, marked as a credit or debit

Balance

Running balance after the transaction

Two things about Novo shape the statement. First, a lot of the money in comes from integrations — payouts from Stripe, Shopify, PayPal or Square — and those arrive as deposits with the source in the description; kept intact, they let you tie revenue back to the platform it came from. Second, Novo's Reserves let you set aside money for tax or expenses inside the account, and moving money into a Reserve shows as a transfer, kept on its own row so it isn't counted as spending. The converter reads the activity, marks each amount as money in or out, and ties it to the closing balance.

Where to download your Novo statement

  1. Online: sign in at novo.co, open the account, and go to Statements (under Documents or Settings). Choose a month and download the PDF.
  2. App: tap the account, open Statements, pick the month and save the PDF.

Downloaded this way it's a digital PDF with selectable text, so the conversion is exact. A scanned or photographed statement works through OCR — it just takes a little longer.

Getting it into a spreadsheet or QuickBooks

  • Excel or Google Sheets — one clean row per transaction, real numbers ready to total and filter.
  • QuickBooks — a QBO or OFX file that imports as bank-feed transactions to categorize.
  • Xero, Zoho and others — the same data in each one's format.

Before download, the figures reconcile: beginning balance, plus credits, minus debits, has to reach the ending balance. With Reserves moving money around inside the account, that check confirms a transfer to your tax set-aside wasn't counted as an expense.

Common snags with Novo statements

  • Integration payouts. Stripe, Shopify and PayPal deposits keep their source so you can match revenue to the platform.
  • Reserves. Money moved into a Reserve stays on its own row, separate from spending.
  • Transfers between accounts. Internal moves stay on the correct side so they don't distort income or costs.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a Novo statement to Excel for free?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Upload the PDF and get a clean Excel or CSV back free to start, with the balance checked so the month reconciles.

Do Stripe and Shopify payouts show up clearly?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Those payouts arrive as deposits with the source in the description, and the converter keeps that detail so you can tie your revenue back to each platform.

Can I import a Novo statement into QuickBooks?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Export to QBO or OFX and import it as a bank feed to match against your books. If QuickBooks rejects a QBO file, OFX is the reliable fallback.

Do Novo Reserves show up correctly?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Money moved into a Reserve — for tax, payroll or a rainy day — appears as a transfer, and the converter keeps it on its own row so your set-aside isn't counted as a business expense.

Does it read scanned Novo statements?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes, with OCR — though a statement from Novo downloads as a native digital PDF that converts cleanly on its own.
