Upload a Bank of Queensland statement PDF and every transaction comes back as clean rows — date, description, debit, credit and the running balance — checked so the closing figure ties out. Export to Excel, CSV, or an import file for Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.

Bank of Queensland grew through its owner-managed branch model and by taking on other brands — it now sits behind ME Bank and Virgin Money Australia too. Whichever front door your account came through, the statement is a document, and a document can't be sorted or totalled until it's rows in a spreadsheet.

What a BOQ statement looks like

A Bank of Queensland transaction account statement uses these columns:

Column

What's in it

Date

`DD Mon YYYY`, Australian format

Description

The payee and how the payment was made

Debit

Money out

Credit

Money in

Balance

Running balance after the transaction

The Description carries the payee and the payment method, and where it runs long it continues on the line below. A straight copy-paste treats that continuation as a fresh transaction, and from there the debit and credit figures no longer line up with their dates. The converter reattaches the overflow to the payment it belongs to before anything is exported, so what you open is a clean, in-order month.

One group, several brands

BOQ isn't only the Queensland branch network it started as. It now owns ME Bank and Virgin Money Australia, so a household might hold accounts across two or three of these brands without realising they share an owner. Each brand issues its own statement in its own style, and the converter handles them individually — keeping every account's opening and closing balance to itself rather than rolling them into one figure. That matters at tax time, when an offset or a savings account has to stay distinct from the everyday transaction account it sits beside.

Where to download your BOQ statement

  1. BOQ Internet Banking: log in at boq.com.au, choose the account, open Statements, select the period and download the PDF.
  2. BOQ app: tap the account, go to Statements, pick a statement and save the PDF.

A statement downloaded from Internet Banking is a digital PDF with selectable text, so the conversion is exact. If you only have a scan or a photo of a mailed statement, the converter reads it with OCR — that just takes a little longer.

Getting the numbers where you need them

  • Excel or Google Sheets — a clean `.xlsx` or CSV, one row per transaction, ready to total and filter.
  • Xero or MYOB — an import-ready bank file so the lines arrive as statement entries to reconcile.
  • QuickBooks, Zoho and others — the same data in each one's format.

The figures are reconciled before download: opening balance, plus credits, minus debits, must land on the closing balance. When a household's money is spread across BOQ, ME Bank and Virgin Money Australia, converting each statement and checking it individually is what keeps the picture straight rather than muddled.

Common snags with BOQ statements

  • Continuation lines. A payee that runs onto the next line is reattached to its transaction.
  • Several brands, separate balances. BOQ, ME Bank and Virgin Money Australia statements each keep their own balance.
  • Value on the right side. Debits and credits stay in their own columns so the totals aren't reversed.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert a Bank of Queensland statement to Excel for free?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Upload the PDF and get a clean Excel or CSV back free to start, with the running balance checked so the import lines up.

Where do I download my BOQ statement?keyboard_arrow_down

In BOQ Internet Banking or the app: choose the account, open Statements, pick the period and download the PDF. That digital PDF converts cleaner than a scan.

Does it work for ME Bank or Virgin Money Australia statements?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Both sit within the BOQ group; the converter reads their statements the same way and keeps each account's balance separate.

Can I import it into Xero or MYOB?keyboard_arrow_down

Yes. Export an import-ready bank file and the transactions arrive as statement lines you reconcile as usual in Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks.
