Upload a Chime statement PDF and every transaction comes back as clean rows — date, description, amount and running balance — checked so the month reconciles. Export to Excel, CSV, or a QBO/OFX file for QuickBooks.
Chime is a banking app rather than a traditional bank — fee-free, no branches, run entirely from your phone. Its statements are clean and simple as a result, but a few Chime-only features shape what's on them: SpotMe, automatic round-ups, and paychecks that can land early.
What a Chime statement looks like
A Chime statement — for the Checking Account or the Savings Account — lists activity in a single running table:
Column | What's in it |
|---|---|
Date | The posting date |
Description | The merchant, transfer or deposit detail |
Amount | The transaction value, marked as a credit or debit |
Balance | Running balance after the transaction |
Three Chime features are worth understanding when you convert. Round-ups move spare change into savings on each card purchase, so you'll see small transfers alongside the purchase that triggered them — kept on their own rows so they don't muddle the spending line. SpotMe can let a debit go through when the balance is short, which shows as the transaction clearing rather than bouncing, sometimes with a repayment on a later deposit. And a direct deposit set up through Chime may post early, on whatever date Chime credited it. The converter reads the whole list, marks each amount as money in or out, and ties it back to the closing balance.
Where to download your Chime statement
- Online: sign in at member.chime.com, open the account, and go to Statements (under Documents/Settings). Choose a month and download the PDF.
- App: tap the account, open Statements, pick the month and save the PDF.
Downloaded this way it's a digital PDF with selectable text, so the conversion is exact. A scanned or photographed statement works through OCR — it just takes a little longer.
Getting it into a spreadsheet or QuickBooks
- Excel or Google Sheets — one clean row per transaction, real numbers ready to total and filter.
- QuickBooks — a QBO or OFX file that imports as bank-feed transactions to categorize.
- Xero, Zoho and others — the same data in each one's format.
Before download, the figures reconcile: beginning balance, plus credits, minus debits, has to reach the ending balance. With round-ups moving small amounts to savings, that check confirms none of them were mistaken for spending.
Common snags with Chime statements
- Round-ups read as spending. The small transfer to savings stays separate from the purchase that triggered it.
- SpotMe transactions. A payment covered by SpotMe shows as clearing, kept on its own row, with any later repayment on its own line.
- Fee-free by design. Chime charges few of the fees a traditional bank does, so the statement is mostly real activity rather than charges to strip out.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert a Chime statement to Excel for free?keyboard_arrow_down
Yes. Upload the PDF and get a clean Excel or CSV back free to start, with the balance checked so the month reconciles.
How do round-ups and transfers to savings show up?keyboard_arrow_down
As small movements alongside the purchases that triggered them. The converter keeps each on its own row, so your Checking spending total isn't inflated by money that only moved to savings.
Can I import a Chime statement into QuickBooks?keyboard_arrow_down
Yes. Export to QBO or OFX and import it as a bank feed. If QuickBooks rejects a QBO file, OFX is the reliable fallback from the same converter.
Does SpotMe change how the statement reconciles?keyboard_arrow_down
No. A payment SpotMe covers still shows as clearing on its date, and any repayment appears as its own line on a later deposit — so the running balance the converter checks stays correct throughout.
Does it read scanned Chime statements?keyboard_arrow_down
Yes, with OCR — though it's rarely needed, since a statement from the Chime app downloads as a native digital PDF.
