If that's rejected
Date of birth as DDMMYYYY on its own
Customer ID on its own
Seventeen characters looks wrong, and that is the usual reason people assume they have misread the instructions. It is correct.
Step by step
- Find the email or SMS that delivered your YES Bank statement — it states the password rule.
- Try the pattern shown above first.
- Enter it with no spaces, in lower case unless the bank specifies otherwise.
- If it's rejected, work through the alternatives below — the rule often differs between net banking, the app and emailed statements.
- Upload the locked PDF as-is to convert it. You'll be prompted for the password, it unlocks in your browser, and it's never sent to us.
Why the password is so long
Most Indian banks use one identifier. YES Bank joins two — the nine-digit Customer ID and the eight-digit date of birth, run together with no separator, giving seventeen characters. People who know the date-of-birth convention from another bank type eight digits, get refused, and conclude the format has changed.
The Customer ID here is the CIF number, shown on the YES Online net banking dashboard, in the iris app profile, and on the welcome kit. It is not the account number, and substituting one for the other is the second most common cause of a rejection.
Because the two parts run together, a leading zero dropped from either half breaks the whole password. A Customer ID stored in a spreadsheet often loses its leading zero silently, so check the digit count before anything else: nine, then eight.
If the combined form fails, YES Bank statements have also been reported using the plain date of birth for some statement types. Try 10011995 on its own before assuming the file is damaged.
YES Bank went through a Reserve Bank reconstruction in 2020, and customers from that period sometimes hold records that were migrated rather than created fresh. The CIF number survived the reconstruction unchanged, so a Customer ID from a welcome kit issued years ago still applies.
For a joint account the primary holder's CIF and date of birth are the ones used, which catches out couples who both bank here and try each other's details.
What a YES Bank statement looks like
YES Bank is one of the few Indian banks to join two identifiers into a single long password, which is why it looks wrong when you first see it.
Converting a YES Bank statement
Removing the password by re-saving or printing to PDF tends to flatten the text into an image — it makes extraction worse, not better.
Frequently asked questions
Are YES Bank statements password-protected?expand_more
Yes. Your nine-digit Customer ID (CIF) followed immediately by your date of birth as DDMMYYYY — seventeen characters, nothing between them. The email that delivered the statement states the exact rule and overrides any published list, including this one.
What if the YES Bank password is rejected?expand_more
Work through these in order: Date of birth as DDMMYYYY on its own; Customer ID on its own. YES Bank may use a different rule for net banking, the app and emailed statements, so the covering email is the only authoritative source.
Where do I download a YES Bank statement?expand_more
YES Online net banking → Accounts → Account Statement → choose the period → Download PDF, or generate one in the YES Bank iris mobile app.
How do I remove the password from a YES Bank statement?expand_more
Open it with the password above — Your nine-digit Customer ID (CIF) followed immediately by your date of birth as DDMMYYYY — seventeen characters, nothing between them — then save or print it to a new PDF, which carries no password. If you need the transactions rather than the document, upload the locked file here: you are prompted for the password, it is used in your browser and never sent to a server, and you get Excel, CSV or Tally XML back with the totals checked.
