Kotak statements are most often protected with the account holder's date of birth as eight digits — 25 December 1992 becomes 25121992. Where that is refused, the next thing to try is your CRN, the Customer Relationship Number Kotak assigns when the relationship opens.
The CRN appears in the Kotak mobile app under your profile, on the net banking dashboard, and on the welcome kit issued with the account. It is not your account number, and substituting one for the other is the usual reason a password that should work does not.
Kotak also issues statements for 811 digital accounts through the same app, and those follow the same rule. A credit-card statement is billed separately and can carry its own password, stated in the email that delivered it.
If the date of birth is being rejected and you are certain of it, check whether the bank holds a different date than you expect: an account opened with a PAN card carries the date printed there, which is not always the date in daily use.
Kotak 811, the digital-only account opened through the app, produces statements through the same system as a branch account and follows the same rule. People sometimes assume a digital account must work differently and go looking for a separate format that does not exist.
Where the CRN is needed, note it is a different number from both your account number and your customer ID at any other bank. Kotak prints it on the welcome kit and shows it in the app profile, and it stays constant across every product you hold with them — savings account, credit card, loan.
Kotak absorbed ING Vysya Bank, and long-standing customers from that side occasionally find their record carries the original ING Vysya details, including a date of birth captured at that time.
